You slipped off your shoes, tossing your bag aside as you sighed heavily, already feeling the weight of the day melt away at the thought of cuddling into his warmth. Maybe you’d talk about your day, maybe you’d just relax in comfortable silence—either way, the evening was supposed to end with you wrapped up in his arms. You smiled to yourself as you padded into the living room.

But instead of the quiet, loving atmosphere you were hoping for, you found Suna sprawled out on the couch, eyes half-lidded, watching some dumb cartoon on TV.

The smell hit you instantly.

“Seriously rin?” you muttered, a mix of disappointment and irritation bubbling up in your chest. “You’re high again?”

Suna barely stirred, his eyes lazily following the bright, flashing colors on the screen. He looked over at you sluggishly, blinking as if it took a monumental effort just to acknowledge your presence.

You crossed your arms, the weight of the day now bearing down harder. “We could’ve had a nice night, you know? But no, you just had to get high. How are we supposed to be intimate like this?”

He let out a slow, almost inaudible hum, his lips curling into a half-smile as his hand lazily patted the couch beside him. It was clear he wasn’t even processing what you were saying. His attention drifted back to the TV, where something nonsensical was happening, judging by the dopey grin that spread across his face.

You rolled your eyes, letting out a frustrated scoff. “Unbelievable,” you muttered under your breath, turning on your heel and heading for the bedroom. Maybe you’d get some rest on your own, without waiting around for him to snap out of it.

As you settled into bed, your mind still lingered on the disappointment. He could be so sweet, but when he was like this? It was like he wasn’t even there. You huffed, burying yourself under the covers, willing yourself to sleep and forget about it.

Hours later, you stirred. Something soft brushed against your skin, and warmth surrounded you. Blinking slowly, you turned your head slightly and saw Suna, his arm draped around you, face nuzzled into the crook of your neck. His breathing was soft and even, a stark contrast to how he’d been earlier.

For a moment, you were confused, unsure of how or when he’d come to bed. But the softness of the moment, the gentle way he was holding you, made your heart swell. His fingers lightly curled against your side as if instinctively seeking you out, even in his sleep.

You felt your lips tug upward, a small smile forming despite yourself. Maybe he wasn’t always the perfect picture of romance, but in moments like this—when he held you close, even when he wasn’t entirely awake—it was enough. You pressed back into his embrace, relaxing into his warmth.

mindlessly listening to your favorite song, you didn’t notice how the tall middle blocker of nekoma’s volleyball team covered his ears in frustration; situated in the gym across from where you were sitting in the courtyard. humming along with the tune, you drew small designs on your forearm. you especially didn’t notice how lev’s rant to another member of the volleyball team, who laughed at his frustration.

“lev, it’s just your soulmate… i’m sure that they don’t mean any harm,” kuroo said, to which lev ignored as he looked around.

suddenly, his eyes fell to you, as he saw you through the small opening of the gym door - all of his frustration melting away. watching how you were nodding rhythmically, lev realized how similar it was with music in was hearing. he saw how you were drawing on your skin and saw how the drawings you drew slowly show up on his arm. taking in the detailed intricacy in the drawings, lev knew instantly that you were his soulmate. you are the person he was meant to spend his life with, for the rest of his life.

and he was already in love.
